Elena and Dave were devastated when their elderly neighbors couldn’t attend their wedding ceremony. So, they decided to organize a small wedding at their home to celebrate the special moment with them.

The two moved to their apartment in northern Manhattan in January 2023. Terri, the neighbor, immediately introduced herself to Dave and Elena. “We started visiting her and the older woman, Jean, she takes care of and lives with — they love our dog,” Elena told the Upworthy website.

“Dave would sometimes cook them dinner, and we would eat together. Jean, who is 86, calls us her grandma. Both have lived in the neighborhood for decades—Jean since the ’80s and Terri her whole life.”

When it came time for the two to get married, Terri and Jean were excited. “They loved talking about our upcoming wedding and paid attention to every single part of the planning process, from the dress to the first dance,” Elena said.

However, Jean has mobility issues that prevented the women from attending the wedding. Instead, they organized a private wedding ceremony for the couple in their apartment.

Terri and Jean decorated the house, and they played all the different roles in the wedding. The result was a beautiful video that was shared on social media and has already received over 340 thousand views, along with hundreds of comments from internet users who were moved by the scene.

“This is the most loving, wholesome thing I’ve seen in ages,” said an Instagram user. “What a cute story to be able to tell later down the road! So happy for you both! Congratulations!” commented another. “I am obsessed with every second of this video,” admitted a third internet user.
